Tricycle by Donor has Helped Wasim in Business

Wasim Akram H., 24 years has been a Sama beneficiary for long. He was born with congenital deformity (all four limbs deformed). Wasim has attended Sama’s adventure camps for children with disability thrice and has been helped with educational scholarships. However, he didn’t complete his college and wanted to earn to be able to support his family’s needs. “I started to supply raw material to a friend who manufactures disposable plates and also started to help my father with his work,” he said. Wasim’s father sells arecanut and betel leaves in the wholesale vegetable market in Yeshwantpur, Bangalore. “I was having a tricycle before but it had got spoiled. I needed it badly as I carry goods for my father’s business and for my own business on it,” he said. In September 2013, an individual donor donated three tricycles to Sama Foundation and one was given to Wasim. “We have an increasing number of donors who have in the recent past donated us wheel chairs and tricycles. These aids help people with polio and physical disability become more mobile,” said Sardar Basheer, Sama’s Education and Psychosocial care Program Coordinator who identified Wasim.
